TRICARE Open Season & USFHP FAQ

TRICARE Open Season is the annual period when most beneficiaries can enroll in or change their health coverage plan for the following year.
- When: Open Season runs from November 10 through December 9, 2025.
- Action Required: If you want to switch between TRICARE Prime and TRICARE Select, or enroll in the US Family Health Plan (USFHP), you must do so during this window. Changes become effective on January 1, 2026
The USFHP is a TRICARE Prime option offered in specific service areas. It provides comprehensive care through a local network of top civilian providers and hospitals, giving you all the benefits of TRICARE Prime, plus exclusive service advantages.
While both are TRICARE Prime options, the USFHP offers superior service designed specifically for military families:
- Zero Paperwork: You will have no claim forms to fill out—we handle the administration for you.
- Dedicated Support: We answer every call immediately. You speak to a real person every time.
- Expert Guidance: Your Health Benefit Consultants are Retired Military who deeply understand TRICARE, making your enrollment and care easy.
The USFHP is available to most TRICARE-eligible beneficiaries, including Active Duty Family Members and Retirees and their families, who live in our specific designated geographic service area.
- Important Note: Enrollment is not available to Active Duty Service Members (ADSMs)
If you are satisfied with your current TRICARE Prime or TRICARE Select plan and do not wish to make a change, you don’t need to take any action. You will remain in your current plan for 2026.
